Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protected Workbenches are specialized workstations designed to safely handle sensitive electronic and aerospace components during preparation and testing at the Space Qualification Facility. Each bench integrates grounded surfaces, antistatic mats, and wrist-strap connections that prevent the buildup and sudden release of static electricity, which can damage microelectronics, sensors, and spacecraft hardware. By providing a controlled, ESD-safe environment, these benches ensure that satellites, CubeSats, and other payloads can be assembled, inspected, and prepared for vibration, shock, and environmental testing without risk of electrostatic damage.
